Tribute to Palma
Curated by Massimiliano Capella
On the occasion of the Jacopo Palma exhibition in Bergamo, two costumes inspired by Italian Renaissance fashion will be presented. The costumes are a tribute to two of the many fascinating designs documented by Palma in his famous portraits.
The costumes were created by Mara Bertoli, who used a refashioning method she has developed over the years, through her experience with antique textiles, and skills honed on the authentic pieces in her collection of dresses and costumes. The first costume, Tribute to Palma refers to 1514-1515 and is inspired by the famous Young Woman in Blue (Kunsthistorisches Museum, Vienna).
The second dress was born from the collaboration with the Fondazione Arte della Seta Lisio. The dates to 1528-1530 and was inspired by Palma’s unfinished female portrait depicting Paola Priuli (Querini Stampalia, Venice).
The elegant and historical mannequins are a cration of La Rosa S.p.a.
